Spike Jonze - Im Here



Making its debut tonight at Sundance is a new short film from renowned director Spike Jonze. Entitled “I’m Here”, the Absolut-funded marketing project turns into a 35-minute short story about a robot in a captivating world. Always the master story teller, Spike’s new short film has tremendous promise and should definitely be something to look forward to when it receives a wider release. For now, enjoy this trailer above

D'holbachie "Living in Your Dreams"


Running from November 18 through December 5, 2009, Living In Your Dreams is Yoko D’Holbachie’s first international solo show. The artist was born in 1972, and after studying design at Yama Art University worked for a period as a video game designer and illustrator. Her work as a painter melds elements of traditional Japanese Anime with pop surrealism. The paintings collected in Living In Your Dreams explores the meaning of dreams through creation of odd creatures incorporating animal and child-like imagery.

Kienholz: The Hoerengracht


Yesterday, The Hoerengracht, an ambitious installation produced by Ed and Nancy Kienholz opened at the National Gallery in London. The 3 dimensional sculpture recreates Amsterdam’s red light district as the duo experienced it in the 1980s. In subject matter, the Kienholz’s recall a place frequently explored by European artists, particularly Dutch artists of the 17th-century.

The Hoergrengracht was built between 1983 and 1988 in Berlin. It was the last major piece composed by the Kienholz’s before Ed’s death in 1994. The installation is on view through February 21, 2010 and free to the public.
